Namaste Children’s House was established in June 2003 to provide housing for orphaned, abandoned and homeless children of Nepal.
Namaste Children’s House is located in Pokhara, a beautiful lakeside town at the base of the Himalayas, approximately 200km west of Kathmandu. This house is now providing a home for 39 children (from 5-18 years old). This number fluctuates at different times as some older children pass out of school level education and some additions are made depending upon the risk of children.
Children are selected regardless of their religion, sex, skin color or tribe. Children who have nowhere to call home and no one to care for them will be given priority. Namaste Children’s House provides a family environment where children can grow and get the necessary skills in order to be independent and valuable contributors to their communities and largely to the country’s economic and social development.
The aim of Namaste Children’s House is to give an opportunity for a new life to orphaned, abandoned and at-risk Nepalese children and provide for their needs in a loving, safe environment where they can receive every opportunity to grow up as happy, well-balanced members of society with a hope and a future.
Our trained, full-time resident Nepali staff is deeply committed. They are skilled, loving, and responsible. There is a “House Mother” and she oversees the other “House Didis” or “Older Sisters”. Each “Didi” is responsible for a certain group of children.
All of our children attend local schools until they have completed high school. Some of the older children are successfully reintegrated into their societies after being with us for a period of time. Some receive vocational training, while others, if they desire,go on to college.
