1) THE VIBRANT HOLI FESTIVAL
Nepal gears up for the colorful and vibrant Holi festival! Known as the festival of colors, Holi is a time for joy, love, and togetherness. The streets will be filled with people throwing colorful powders and water at each other, spreading happiness and celebrating the arrival of spring. Get ready to dance to traditional music, savor delicious sweets, and join in the festive spirit. Let the countdown to Holi begin!
2) BRINGING HOPE, CREATING FUTURES
Mrs. Lalita Shah, our first child at Namaste Children’s Foundation, recently visited our office in Pokhara with her daughter, spreading joy and inspiration among her peers and caregivers. She was with us from 2003 to 2018, completing her education before starting a family in Kathmandu.
Her visit showcased the transformative power of love, care, and education in shaping a brighter future. Her success story reflects the impact of your support in empowering underprivileged children and communities in Nepal since 2003. Thank you for being a part of our journey towards creating hope and brighter futures.
3) EMPOWERING WOMEN, TRANSFORMING LIVES
We are delighted to share the inspiring journey of Jyoti Pariyar. She is a determined trainee from our tailoring program in Bhakunde, Pokhara. She exhibited exceptional dedication and obedience, showcasing a strong desire to learn and earn through tailoring. After completing a 3-month training in March 2022, Jyoti embraced tailoring as a means to support her family.
With support from WEP, she started her own home-based tailoring business, now managing household expenses and aiming to open her shop. Jyoti’s journey showcases the impact of skill development and entrepreneurship. Stay tuned for more inspiring stories of empowered women in our upcoming newsletter!
4) GRADUATION CEREMONY
A new batch of 12 trainees have completed their basic 3 month’s full time “Tailoring Training” from our Women Empowerment Center, Pokhara. These participants were from different parts of Kaski mostly from Ghachowk, Naudada and Parbat.
They were provided training, training materials and a counseling class to empower them towards financial independence. Few of them were also provided with lodging, food, afternoon snacks, basic medical treatment, etc. on a regular basis and motivational monetary support for those who did not miss the class. The trainees being eligible to receive a seed funding are using the money to start their own small business.
The training program has been funding continuously by our wonderful partner (Namaste Foundation, Netherlands – since 2009) and providing a second chance in life through vocational training and other financial support.
5) A PROUD MOMENT
It’s always a moment of PROUD for us to meet some of our reintegrated children working and living independent lives. Today, meet Mr. Som BK, who works as a ‘Barista’ in one of the restaurants on the lakeside after completing his high school degree and a vocational training of “Barista”
This moment exemplifies the achievement of financial independence for Som BK, as he is able to support himself through his work. His dedication and hard work have enabled him to attain this level of financial autonomy, marking a significant milestone in his personal and professional journey towards economic stability and success.
6) HEARTFELT CONDOLENCE
We offer our deepest condolences to Kenny Allen for his loss. Kenny and Vicky have been generous supporters, contributing to our initiatives through donations and volunteering efforts. Our thoughts are with the Allen family during this difficult time.
Additionally, we mourn the loss of Mr. Deepak Pariyar, one of our reintegrated children from Chitwan. Following a severe bike accident, despite our support for his treatment expenses, we tragically lost him. May his soul rest in peace.
