Supporting poor children for education
This program is a crucial initiative aimed at supporting children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in their education journey. By providing continuous scholarship support until the students complete their school leaving certificate examination, the program ensures that these children have access to education without financial barriers.
Covering all school costs, including uniforms, shoes, books, and transportation, helps alleviate the financial burden on families and enables children to focus on their studies. This comprehensive support not only promotes educational opportunities but also contributes to the overall well-being and development of the students.
The program’s focus on monitoring attendance and performance demonstrates a commitment to ensuring that the scholarship recipients are making the most of the opportunities provided to them. By offering full or partial scholarships based on the financial situation of the families, the program ensures that support is tailored to meet the specific needs of each child.
A total of 176 students have been supported in between 2004-2024 and majority of them are successfully reintegrated after completing their high school degree. Once selected, the support continuous for 5-12 years as per the requirements.
Currently, NCF Nepal is working towards some changes to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of support to the children and working towards adapting/sponsoring 10 children from one government run schools and as many schools as possible depending upon the need and financial partners/sponsors guaranteed. Few schools have already been short listed to implement the support this year.
Overall, this program plays a vital role in breaking the cycle of poverty and providing underprivileged children with the chance to receive quality education and build a better future for themselves.
